I love quotes.  Especially Biblical.  But I also love ones that inspire, or dare you to strip away a false facade to embrace truth.  Here are some of my favorites.

"Writing is easy. All you have to do is sit down at the typewriter, cut open a vein, and bleed"-Red Smith

"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."-Ernest Hemingway

"It doesn't take a lot of strength to hang on. It takes a lot of strength to let go." J.C. Watts

"Often I am asked if any writer ever helped or advised me. None did. However, I was not asking for help either, and I do not believe one should. If one wishes to write, he or she had better be writing, and there is no real way in which one writer can help another. Each must find his own way." –Louis L’Amour

"A word is dead when it is said, some say. I say it just begins to live that day." - Emily Dickinson

"We do not write because we want to; we write because we have to." - Somerset Maugham

"I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him."-Abraham Lincoln

"I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong." -Abraham Lincoln

"Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest." -Mark Twain

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." -George Washington

"The price of greatness is responsibility." — Winston Churchill

"Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right." — Henry Ford

"Courage is fear holding on a minute longer." — General George S. Patton, U.S. Army

"When people are bored it is primarily with themselves." -Eric Hoffer

“It takes less time to do a thing right, than it does to explain why you did it wrong.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.” ― A.A. Milne

“To the uneducated an A is just three sticks.” ― A.A. Milne

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go.” --Dr. Seuss

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think, you should spend some time in thought. And number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears. Could be happiness or joy, but think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special." Coach Jim Valvano

"Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up."-Winston Churchill
